Distribute your films on hoopla Digital!

Through Filmocracy’s agreement with hoopla Digital, our films will become available to more than 10 million hoopla users.

Filmocracy has entered an agreement with hoopla to offer a curated slate of festival films to over 3,700 participating hoopla libraries and their more than 10 million library card holders. hoopla and public libraries provide the ideal way to provide content exposure that’s often not possible through more mainstream consumer services—a sustainable channel and service that’s growing every day!

Films from previous years and editions of festivals will be shown on hoopla’s main site as TVOD. The current year’s festival will be shown via hoopla BingePass on Filmocracy.com. Users who purchase hoopla’s BingePass will have 7 days of unlimited access to a curated slate of festival films on Filmocracy. BingePass will be automatically available to patrons of libraries who are partnering with hoopla Digital. The new feature directly integrates into the familiar hoopla Digital interface that librarians and patrons already know, trust, and love. Upon borrowing the Filmocracy BingePass, hoopla users are connected directly into the Filmocracy website, with full seven day access to festival films. The Filmocracy BingePass is automatically available to card holders of libraries who are partnered with hoopla. The new feature directly integrates into the familiar hoopla interface that librarians and their card holders already know, trust, and love.

How hoopla works:

Patrons from participating libraries can register to use hoopla through their library card. Every time the user borrows, the library is charged a transaction fee that is shared by hoopla and the partner. Once their borrow expires, the content is removed from the user’s account. They can return to search and re-borrow or borrow more content from the hoopla platform. hoopla is available to participating libraries in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Learn more about hoopla

Both options are available through the hoopla website and app for registered users. When borrowed, the BingePass takes users from the hoopla platform to the Filmocracy website to watch festival content while films offered through TVOD are consumed within the hoopla platform. TVOD content is available on a title-by-title basis for three days while BingePass provides seven days of access to the Filmocracy.com website to watch an unlimited amount of content.

For each film borrowed on the hoopla platform, the library pays a transaction fee, and the earnings for each transaction are determined by an agreement with Filmocracy.

hoopla users will have access to festivals through the Filmocracy.com website (Filmocracy SVOD) via the Filmocracy BingePass. For each hoopla user who borrows the BingePass, the library pays for the transaction and Filmocracy receives a share of that borrow. The revenue goes into a pool, which is divided by Filmocracy between the film festivals of that month based on viewership.

You’re encouraged to market your film! hoopla does not offer paid advertising opportunities on their platform. The hoopla team utilizes a variety of in-platform collections and merchandising, email, push notifications, social media engagement, and library marketing tactics to create discoverability of the individual films and Filmocracy BingePass.
